In reference to tho supply of electric light for ships’ holds, the contractor for the installation of these lights had made good progress during the month. There had been some difficulty in obtaining lumps suitable for withstanding the inevitable vibration on shipboard while working cargo, but be anticipated that the lights would he available during Ala rch. It was' reported that progress had been made with the repairs to a jetty’Pho piles, caps and beams-on the western half had been made good, and good progress was being made on tho. eastern half. A special committee, consisting of Messrs A. Kayo. F. Horrell and E. J. Howard, which bad investigated the matter of a collision between a motorboat and the board’s oil launch, reported that, after further investigation, it was of opinion that there was some doubt as to whether everything possible was done by the hoard’s launch to avoid the collision and subsequently to minimise the damage resulthm therefrom. Tlie committee was satisfied that the damages claimed were substantially suffered. and recommended that, without admitting liabilitv. the hoard ■ should pav the claim in full. A vote of sympathy' was passed with the relatives of Air -T. Plimmer. wbo died on Eehninvy 20. after fourteen years’ sendee with the. board.
