TO-DAY’S SITTING. CHRISTCHURCH. Mr ft. 1C M’Caithv, ft.A!.., presided at’ *tio Magistrate’s Court tu-aa.y. DRUNKENNESS. Arthur Thomas Cox was charged with having boon drunk mid with having procured liquor during the currency ot a prohibition order. Accused was convicted and. discharged on the first charge, and was convicted and fined “Ms and costs on the second. BREACHES OF BY-LAWS. For cycling on the footpath, William I’-odda, William M’Farlane, John Fierce, James A. Bull, Alfred Martin, Thomas Phillips, Edward M-ariner, Frederick Charles Jenkin, John Marsh Templeninn, Charles William Hill and Richard Henry Emerson were each lined 10s and costs.
i'or cycling by night without lights, Henry Baker, Kitson Minstrom and (.■live Lamb were each fined 10s and costs.
R. 0. Lindsay was fined 20s and costs for having left a motor-car in Madras Street by night without lights. Thomas. Aspcll, for having .driven a motor-car over a crossinig at excessive speed, was fined 20s and costs. I 1 or having permitted chimneys to catch on fire, William Shaw and Thomas Richard Smith wore each lined 10s and costs. A similar charge against L. B, Andrea was dismissed. Richard J. Barrett was charged with having had no silencer on. hi s motorcycle. Ho was fined JJOs and costs. Aline of 10s and costs was imposed on Samuel Hallignn for havino- driven his motor-car on the wrong side. W. H. Williamson (Mr . Otlcy), charged with having driven a motorcar by night without lights and also with having driven the car at excessive speed, was fined 20s and costs ou each charge.
Alexander Inglis was proceeded against by the Society lor the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on three separate charges of having omitted to supply pigs with proper shelter, food and water.. Defendant admitted that ho had not provided proper shelter, but denied that ho had omitted to supply food and water. Air Don gall appeared for the society On the charge of having omitted to supply proper food defendant was fined £o and costs, and on the other charges he- was convicted and discharged The default, was fixed at one month’s imprisonment. CHARGE DISMISSED,
Alexander Russell (Air Hunter) pleaded not guilty to a charge of haring stolon a- bicycle, value £5, .the property of, Robert Henry Trench. Accused elected to be dealt with summarily. After hearing evidence, the Magistrate dismissed the charge. ’
