MrJD. IT. Hiley, General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, paid a visit to the flying school at'Sockburn tin’s morning, and accompanied Mr C. M. Hill in a flight over the cil-v.
A complaint regarding the non-at-tendance at fires of volunteer firemen from the W oolstcu Brigade Teas voiced by a member of the local Fire Board last night. He said that at one fire alarm only one member of the brigade turned out, and on the latest elanr only a hoy turned out. He thought that while this was so, it was throwing money away to maintain * brigade and ho thought that the whole thing should be_ reviewed. One man who had promised to live in the district never turned up at all. It was resolved to have mi inquire into the matter.
