THE “STAR” JUBILEE.

* Journalistic Notices. Wo have pleasure in acknowledgin.; (Jio following notices of the "Star-" jubilee number:— Wellington " Post." On May 14 the Ohristchurch " Stai" completed its fiftieth year of publication, and celebrated the ann.iversai-v with '» special jubilee number. This souvenir section of the issue is a fourpage supplement, of _ gotxta|imlity paper, well illustrated with pictures, showing the progress of Christehurch and of the paper with the. city. Tii-.> letter-press describes brightly and concisely the history of Ohristchurch irom the time when, "grass grew hi Cathedral Square, when the "Star" fmt. appeared, and acres of land in Chmtchurch were covered with flax and tussock." The production is very creditable in all features. " Mataura Ensign." The Christohureh "Star" has at. tained its jubilee and has published an interesting illustrated supplement as a souvenir thereof. Tho issue-is well printed on special paper, and a perusal of the letter-press and a glance at the illustrations afford in the on© in--8 banco evidence of the progress of the paper and in the other the excellence of modern illustrated newspaper work. The history of a city cannot bo better reflected than in the record of its public journals, and the issue on this count alone is of special interest.
