CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery ™ ft held to-day, the Oev \V. T. Todd presiding in the absence of the Moderator (Rev F. Rule). His term of Moderatorship having expired, the Rev F. Rule wrote thanking the Presbytery for its support during his term of office. On the motion of Dr Erwin, the Rev R. H. Blair (Leeston) was elected Moderator for the ensuing sis months. The Rev J. Dickson referred to the question of Sabbath observance, which had been previously dkscussed by the Presbytery, and moved that the overtures be, sent on to the Assembly and that the Revs J. Patersou and J. I>iokv son should net in support. The motion was carried. .The Rev J. S. Reid presented the report of the Halkett visitation, and stated t.ha-i the commission was well satisfied with the result of its visit. Recommendations mado were agreed to. Reports of visits to Leeston and Motukarara were also presented. A report was received from the home missionary at Cheviot and gratification was expressed at the general progress shown. -The afternoon session was devoted to consideration of various details of Church organisation and finance.
