CAPTAIN E. B. ALLEY.

Captain Eric Buckingham Alley, who was reported yesterday to havo dien of wounds, is a son of Mr F. J. Alley, of 80. Cutler's Road, Riccarton. He was twenty-three yoars of age, and was educated at Amber! ey, West Christchurch District High School, Christchurch Boys' High School and Canterbury College. Captain Alley was one of tho best rifle shots at the iirs two schools, and at the Boys' High School he was second on tho list in two competitions. Ho was farming at Southland for three years, where lie devoted all his spare time to the Southland Mounted Rifles, of which he was a lieutenant. He left with tho Main Expeditionary Force as a lieutenant, and was shot through both knees at the Dardanelles. He was invalided to England, and returned to Egypt early this year, where ho was transferred to the infantry with a captaincy. Captain Alloy went to France some two or three months ago.
