EX-GERMAN CONSUL

RELEASE PROM MOTUIHI. After having been interned under the war regulations for a period of fourteen weeks, Mr Carl Seegner, formerly Consul for Germany in Auckland, was released from the Motnihi prison camp last Friday. During tho period of liis internment Mx Seegner has been seriously ill. and his release lias b&en granted on this ground. He is on parole, and has to comply with certain conditions fixed by the military tiesMr Seegner was arrested on February 22. His former private .secretary, Mr I/othar Bilander, was taken into custody on the same day. Mr Seegner was for a time in custody at Fort Cautley, and was afterwards removed to Motnihi Island.
