SUPPLIES FOR GERMANY.
* Mr Boulton while in Holland found out two clever schemes of the Germans to smuggle contraband of war through Dutch territory, ho said. German agents in Holland liad gathered largo quantities of copper, which was moulded into the shape of anchors. German barges and other light craft coming down the Rhino to Dutch ports would leave their iron anchors, replacing them with the copper implements, painted black. The falsa anchors, hung in full yiew on the cathcnds of tho German boats, would be taken back on the return trip. This ruse was discovered by the British agents in Holland and reported to the Dutch authorities, who now inspect every anchor on German vessels.
For obtaining benzine and gasolene tho Germans had another trick. A Dutch railroad inspector, inspecting a trainioad of cement buildins: block", bound for -Germany. Accidentally taprwd one of the bricks with a hammer. Tho Mock* cracked and benzine jyushed out. Tbe blocks were hollow and ea-cb one ""ns filled with the precious liquid. This practice has, of course, been stormed. 7 J assengers on board the Noordain had the war broinrht close to them from tho ir.nment the vessel left Rotterdam until phe had put the British coast for astorn. The Noordimt vns surveyed bv German taiibas off flic coast of Holland, was boarded by "British officers off Deal, when seven of her •passengers, said to 1>« Austrians, nnd asboro. and iras up four dnvs' in the Downs before sho was allowed to proceed.
