THIRD DAY'S PLAY.
When the third day's proceedings of the tournament wore commenced, this morning a strong north-east breeze swept, across the bcwlir.g greens, and ft heavy overcast sky seemed to give promise of rain. The sky brightened, however, as the morning advanced, and except for the wind the, conditions remained excellent. The stiff breeze had a steadying-effect on the players, for no liberties could be taken: even with all care exercised in delivery the wind would, on rinks playing north "and south, occasionally catch a bowl abeam and deflect it somewhat from the course intended, and on preens on which the play ran east and west players Wad a head wind when bowling to the east and a favourable one when playing to the west. The defeat of Walker in .Section 0 and Waddell in Section A were incidents of note in the seventh round. The sectional play in the rink tournament will be completed to-day. Green winners ijwill meet to-morrow morning on the Christchurch Club's green, and during the afternoon tho North v. South Island match will bo plaved. and bowlers and guests will bo entertained bv the president of the New Zealand Bowling Association, Ml- M. F Barnet.
