DOMINION TOURNAMENT.

SECOND DAY'S PLAY

At nine o'clock yesterday, proceedings commenced on all the greens with (ho fourth round of the Rink Tournament. In Section A, Phoenix (Waddell) continued in winning vein, but. Opawa. (Goldatono) and Otaki (Satberly) experienced reverses. United (Eraser) again won in Section B, but Tuuranga (Crowley) here met, with its first loss. A keen contest resulted in Section C, Jive rinis being' equal with three wins and one loss each'. In Section U. tho Christchnrch (TorTance) and Canterbury (Rcdputh) rinks each won and led with four wins, while in Section E, Roslyn (Fountain) and Christchureh (Orchard) each notched a win and continued in the van. The leading- score in Section P wag three wins and one loss, recorded by the UaJmacowan rink (Armstrong). In Section G, Ponsonby (Walker) and Wellington (Sievwright) continued their successes, and atood at four wins each at the close of the round. Tho most notable events of tho fifth round were tho defeats of United (Eraser) by Sydenham tChegwin), of Wellington (Sievwright) bv Ponsonbv (Walker), and of Canterbury (J. A Redpatli) by Christchurch (Torrance). A great contest was witnesWd between Ota go (Smith) and Wellington (Portcous), It resulted in a tic or! thf twenty-first head, each side scoring twenty-two points. An extra head was played, and was won by Otago, the final score being twenty-three- points to twenty-two.

In the sixth round play became even keener, and tho progress of the leaders was watched with much interest. A notable incident was tho defeat, in Section D, of the 'Christchnrch rink (Torrance), which had five clear wins'to its credit, by Wellington (Magnus). Jtoslyn (Fountain) had a close call-in Section E, for on commencing the last head the rinks were even. After delivering his last, bowl, Fountain lay one up. The St Albans skip (R. J. Thompson) then sent down a fast shot, which scattered the bowls and jack, but Roslyn's luck was in, and the nearest bowl to the jack belonged to the southern, rink. United (Eraser) in Section B again lost in this round. The Wellington rink (Hill), by winning from Christchnrch (Gurney) ran into the lead for the green with five wins snd one loss. Phoenix (Waddell) in Section A again played finely, and defeating Palmerston North * (Nash), established a clear lead with six wins, The Sydenham rink (M'Gallon), by defeating Dunedin (M'Laron), ran into the lead in Section C with five- wins and one loss. By losing to Edgeware (Beanland), Balmaoewan (Armstrong) lost its advantage of one game which it held at the commencement, of the round in Section F, and four rinks were equal with four wins and two Josses each. In Section G, the Ponsonbv rink (Walker) notched another win, and with Roslyn and, Phoenix was one of the three rinks, to remain unbeaten at the end of the day's play. At the closj of the day's play the lendins? rinks in the several sections were as follow: — SECTION A.—Phoenix (Waddell), six wins. SECTION 8.-Wellington (Hill), each five wins, one loss-. . SECTION C—Sydenham (M'Gallan) and Newtown (Wylie), five wins, one loss. SECTION D. Christchnrch (Torrance), Waimate (Laiug) and Canterbury (Redpath), five wins and one loss each. SECTION E.—Roslyn (Fountain), six wins! SECTION F— Balmacewan (Armstrong), Kaikorai (AUnutt). Newtown '(Laughton) and Edgeware (Beanland), each four wins and two losses. SECTION G.
