ARE RECRUITS WANTED?
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, —According to accounts in yesterday morning's and' this morning's papers, i sec that tlic 11th Reinforcements are still requiring 121 men from Canterbury. Now, I wish to place before the general public one incident. With a friend, I went along to the recruiting office. King Edward Barracks, last evening to try to get examined and go straight, away into camp. "We did not consider our Christmas plumpudding at home, nor did' we look upon the joy.> and fun we would be missing. "We simply thought of our comrades, and that jwssibly we could bo of some asistance to them. However, the officer in charge informed us that he could 31 ot send any more men away before the middle oi' next month for the 12th Reinforcements. Now, as loyal Britishers, both of wo ask you to take this matter up seriously ana' find out why wo were "turned down. Wo know the country wants the men, for the authorities recently made a speeial appeal to come forward. We offered, and theresuit is—no* wanted. —We are, etc., * NEW ZEALAND' SCOTTISH.
