CITY AND SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION
The City and Suburban Cricket Association formally opened the new season thi.-i afternoon, when a number of practice matches were played en the different grounds. At English Park friendly matches wero played between Dunstable and -Working Men's Club, snd between Rangers and Chemists. The competition matches will commence on October 16, and the entries will close on Monday night. It is expected that a, good nvmber of entries will be received", hut owing to tho fact that many players have gone to the war the number will not be as large as last season. It is proposed' to rearrange the various grades including fewer teams in each grade, and to form a nc T vV grade. * n ' s raea,lp ™ * n ~ tended to make the competitions more decisive.
Tho association has secured English Park for tho season, and three Senior matches will be played on that ground each Saturday. At present the ground is a bit dry and rough in places, but it is being constantly watered and rolled and it is expected to be in perfect order in a few weeks' time. In addition to English Park, matches will be piaved at Sydenham Park, St Albans Park, Woolston Park and other grounds. Several new clubs have been formed and the members of the association are looking forward to a very successful season, in spite of a probable reduction in the number of Senior players.
