BURIED £50,000.

RECOVERY UNDER RUINS. When the Germans were blasting their way through Belgium a year ago a Malines professor, before fleeing for his life, buried under his house all his possessions, consisting of gold, other money, plate, jewel, and negotiable stocks and bonds of a total value of £50,000. Tl)© house was bombarded, and later what was left of it was rasied to the ground. "Where it once stood is now vacant space. Several months ago, on what he considered the remote chance of disintering his fortune, the professor sought the good offices of the American authorities in London. He furnished them with a detailed plan of his house and the spot where his treasure lay hid. To his intense joy, he has now been notified that the search was successfully carried out through tho agency of the United States Consul for the Malines district, and the property is now registered in hia nam© under the guardianship of the United States Government, pending its release from " German trusteeship when the war is over.
