He was twenty- ix years of age, and _re- : Dontled promptly to the call of the Empire and went with the I*irst Expeditionary Force. He was an enthusiastic Oddfellow, having ii'.led the position of Grand Master in hi* Lodge. He was of a -g?nml disposition and admired by fill'who ie>ew hint.
