CORRESPONDENCE.
PRICE OF KEROSENE. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Allow me to correct an obvious error in a statement published in your paper of to-day's date. I refer to the value of kerosene and motor spirits held in store in this country. "What was in. my mind, and if otherwise, stated was quite unintentional, was that there would be duty lost- on about 500,000 cases through a statutory declaration not being obtained at the time the Government proposed action in that direction. Personally 1 am still hoping that the matter may be reviewed by the Minister in charge of the Budget to the end that at least the tariff on kerosene may compare favourably with that: on motor spirit. At the present it works out at over 30 per cent, increase on the cost of the former and less than 20 per cent on the. latter.— I am, etc., JOHN H. PUGH. August 28.
