THE FERRY SERVICE.
With the Christmas and Now Year holidays close at hand, and the commencement of excursion fares on the railways, the number of travellers on the ferry steamers has shown a marked increase during the past day or two. This morning the Wahine arrived in Lyttelton with five hundred and sixtysix passengers on board. Heavy bookings 'are recorded for nest week. So as to expedite the despatch of the ferry trains, the Maori and "SVahine aro now scheduled to arrive alongside the wharf at 6,30 a.m.
