THE WEATHER.
1 A boisterous nor'-west gale, accompanied by intense heat, raged over Christehurch to-day. . The conditions in Now Zealand were fair generally. Clear bine skies were experienced at Auckland and all northernmost stations. Overcast and threatening weather held sway elsewhere in the North Island. Heavy rain was falling at Westport Greymouth and BeaJey. The weather at other places in the Smith Island was fine. Nor'-west gales were fairly frequent in the Dominion, being reported from Capo. Pal'tiscr, Wellington, Cape Campbell, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Nuggets and the Bluff. Rough Seas and a low barometer were general. The following is tho Government Meteorologist's forecast:—"The indications for a heavy westerly gale, veering by west to south. Weather is clouding over, and the indications are for electrical disturbances. Rivers Rising. The barometer has a falling tendency but -unsteady."
