AFTER A GERMAN.

—_—«. RAID AT THE BLUFF to the " Star.") BLUFF, October 24. A serious attempt to injure a German resident at the Bluff occurred last night, when a party of men visited the residence of Mr Nichol, who employs a German gardener. The leader of the party, with a double-barrelled/ gun, demanded to know where the German was, but he was peremptorily ordered to leave the place. Mr Nichol closed the door, and immediately a shot was fired. Three further shots were fired into the gardener's cottage. The police shortly afterwards arrested a man named J. Kane with a gun still in his possession. The remainder decamped. Accused came before the Police Court this morning, and was remanded until Monday, bail being allowed in the sum of £25.
