BANK. IN DANGER. - i CONFLAGRATION AT WAVERLEY. [Pm Pbkss Association.], ... . - WANGANOI, March 18. A block of buildings at Waverley known as Dixon's was destroyed by fire at three; o'clock this morning. The lire originated in-Moore and Fitzsimmons's barber's saloon, and spread to Dalton's land agent; Karnes, chemist; Merrimali, jeweller; and Dixon's hall. The block and the contents were destroyed. • Cathie's stationery premises ignited and were much damaged, hut the brigade arrested the progress of tho fire, though not before the stock was practically ruined. The Bank of Ne\y South Wales was only saved by strenuous efforts. The insurances on the buildings were £1950 and on the stock £llOO.
