Mr James Smith AVoodhouse, of Birse, Aberdeen, who is eighty-five years of age, is still living in the same house in which ho was bom, and sleeps on the same oak bedstead on which he first saw the light. He is very activo for his age, and is a keen gardener. A letter was received to-clay by the Education Board from the North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, asking that school children might bo permitted to attend at. the dental ward during school hours without having' any absence recorded, against them. The letter was referred io the Appointments Committee,
