The subject was, " What is a British SubjeotP" He defended the right of the colonies in themselves to determine what people should be allowed to immigrate. * Colonial legislation waa operating as a great solvent of tho term citizenship. It indicated the desirability for greater integration of the colonies into groups, able to agree through the medium of Imperial conferences on a common foreign policy and enforce it. CANNIBALISM A CURB FOR INDIGESTION. Dr Boyen, of the Faculty of Medicine at Lyons, announces in all seriousness that human flesh is a scientific remedy for indigestion. He declares that it reduces the work of the digestive organs to a minimum. He does not intend practising the theory himself, nor does he recommend it to patients. A DANGER TO THE REPUBLIC.
Amongst the arguments used in the Chamber of Deputies against granting the franchise to women was that they were too susceptible to clerical influence, endangering the republican regime.
