FINE WEATHER.
The serenity of mind of holidaymakers in Christchurch. was nofc ptir- . turbed by the overcast sky which pre- .. vailed this morning, for the clouds which obscured the sun were very light, and rainfall seemed improbable. Blue skies were general in Otago, Southland and Westland, and the , winds throughout the South Island had veered from eouth to north-east. Fine weather was reported from all stations in the North Island, and with a rising barometer and lighter winds, the imgMvement reported, jes'yeiaay seems kely to develop into seasonable and yiore enjoyable and settled conditions. Tha barometer shows little movement, bnt still has a rising tendency. With the exception of Farewell Spit 'rfnd Nuggets all the coastal stations reported moderate to smooth seas. At the places mentioned heavy seas prevailed. The following is the Government meteorologist's forecast: Northerly winds, moderate to strong prevailing, and freshening. There is a prospect of fair weather, mild and hazy conditions, but with increasing haze and cloudiness. Barometer falling soon, • Ifer'' '
