KEEPING ACCOUNTS.

PROTEST AGAINST A BANK CHARGE. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") WELLINGTON, November 14. Though legislators as individuals object to paying the bank 10s per annum for keeping their accounts, they voted 29 to 17 to reject an amendment moved by the Hon D. Buddo on the Bank of New Zealand Bill, last night, directing that the' charge shall not exceed half a crown. The mover pointed out that email local bodies, such as school committees, felt the charge severely. It was too much for a small account, but not worth collecting on a big one. The Hon W. Fraser, who happened to be in charge of the Bill at the moment, said he was not defending, the charge, but' he could not accept the amendment. It was just as much trouble to the bank to keep a £5 account as one for £SOOO.
