William Uloinlield. |>!irt proprietor of (lie " Observer," has been served with a writ to appear at the Suweme Court, Wellington, to show enii.se why he should not be. committed for contempt of Court with respect to cartoons published in the Observer/' and reflecting upon Mr.Justice Edwards and the administration of justice at the Supremo Court, Auckland. The writ served on Blonvfield was issued by the Attorney-General, and sets out that lie did publish certain senndalous, insulting and offensive pictures or cartoons entitled respectively. " Experience," Justice is not Blind,' and referring to Air Justice Edwards as Judge of the Court, and imputing to liiin partiality, bias, injustice, corruption and impropriety in the conduct of his judicial office, calculated to obstruct and interfere with the due administration of justice ; or in the alternative the Attorney-General may be at liberty to' issue a writ of attachment against the said William Blomfield, and Blomfield may be ordered to pay costs of this application; or that further other orders may be made as circumstances of the ca,<e may require. Blomfield will leave for Wellington by the train to-night.
