He remarked that the exercises entailed the employment of a larger force under one commander than had ever before been practised in England. They served to develop that common understanding and co-operar tion between the different armies, units and formations 60 essential to success in the field. He was glad to notice the considerable increase in airoraft,' and he was convinced that, great strides were being made in the practical training of all ranks.
