THE DEFENCE FORCES.
PRESENTATION OF MEDALS. To-morrow at 12-15 p.m. the Prim® Minister, Mr W. F. Massey, will present medals to the local Seuior Cadets who recently visited Canada as members of the Cadet contingent. The Mayor, members of Parliament and of the City Council and honorary Territorials have been invited to be present at the King Edward Barracks, and the general public will be admitted. The cadets on parade will have previously visited H.M.S. New Zealand, and, although the parade may not be a very large one, it should prove to be worth seeing.
At 8.15 o'clock tomorrow morning the Senior Cadets of Christchurch and suburbs will visit the battleship now at Lyttelton. Already large numbers of the cadets have inspected the ship, so that the parade may not bo a very large one. After the inspection the cadets will return to Christchurch and proceed to the King Edward Barracks, where medals are to be presented to members of the Canadian Contingent. Major Pinwell has returned to Christchurch, after a visit to t.he West Coast to inspect the casual camp at Greymouth. He found that the Territorial companies were doing good work in most places. At the camp ho sa.w the men at work on a field day. The Territorials in the town attacked those in camp, and considering the small amount of training which the men had had the work was of a. very creditable nature. It is intended to try to form a bugle band in connection with the Senior Cadet movement on the West Coast.
