THE INDRABARAH.
[Per Phess Association.] AUCKLAND, May 16. Mr Plunket, Lloyd's surveyor, has been instructed to proceed to the steamer Indrabarah to report on the condition of the vessel and to watch the interests of parties interested. He will go by train to-night via Wellington. WANGANUI, May 16. , The tug Terawhiti left Castlecliff at 7 a.m. for the Indrabarah, in order ' to put out anchors, in preparation for an attempt to refloat the steamer. Bine© the tug left the wind from the ' south south-east has increased with ©verv prospect of increasing and causing the sea to become too rough for operation®. PALMERSTON NORTH, May 16. 1 An ex-naval authority, with long experience, says that the idea of using the battle-cruiser to tow off the Indrabarah is quite impracticable. Captain ■ Halsey is not likely to imperil his tine ■ ship in a too closo» approach to the ooast. Even if he did no cable would i gtand the strain, which would break 1 any hawser. The battle-cruiser would not be able to approach the steamer ' nearer than four cables' length and as i •ach cable is 100 fathoms, the mere ! weight of the line would be considerable apart from the strain.
