"Dbttnxenness. —A first offender, a woman, who appeared on a charge of drunkenness, was fined 5s and costs, or in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment.
Remaxded.—A youth named Reginald Lewis, for whom Mr Cassidy appeared, was charged with having stolen the sum of £45, the property of 1\ S. Nicholls and Co. A further charge was made of forgery of a bank book " by altering a genuine document in a material part, and making a material addition to it, with the intent that it should be acted upon as genuine." On the application of Detective Bishop the case was adjourned till to-morrow. Bail was allowed in self £SO and one surety of £6O or two of £25 each. Civil Cases.—ln the following cases judgment, with costs, was given for plaintiffs by default:—C M. Ollivier (Mr Hunter) t. H. N. Eloy, £2 15b 7d; Christchurch Motor Import Company (Mr Cuningham) r. H. Leices-ter, £7 Is 3d; same v. J. E. Skeates, £7 16s; International Harvester Company (Mr Wright) v. Alphonso Reilly, £6 14s 6d; same v. R. P. Rvder. £8 10s 9d ; same v. Alexander M'Cleevy. £22 4s 6d; Massey, Harris Co., Ltd. (Mr Wright) v. James Armstrong. £9 12s 6d. Judgment Summonses.—ln the judgment summons case, Mrs H. Edmonston (Mr Rowe) v. J. R. Taylor, claim £l2 8s 6d, judgment debtor did not appear. An order was made for payment of the amount forthwith, in default three weeks' imprisonment.—ln the case of W. Stonyer (Mr Leathern) v. D. Gibb, claim £3 2s Bd, debtor did not appear, and an order wa,s made for payment forthwith, in default one week's imprisonment.
