LIVERPOOL DOCKERS ON STRIKE.

Several thousand dockers at Liverpool and Birkenhead struck on Saturday, demanding full pay up to one o'clock. They intend to strike once a week until their grievances are remedied. THE GENERAL LABOURERS. [Pep. Press Association.] AVELLINGTON, April 29. Mr Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, had a further conference with the representatives of the City Council and other local bodies and private employers and of the General Labourers' Union yesterday. It was stated that an agreement was possible with the City Council, but that the wages and conditions acceptable in this case might not prove acceptable to some of the other parties. After the Council had discussed the position in camera, it was announced that no agreement liad been come to on the major points, and the whole matter would be referred to the Arbitration Court. THE FIREMEN. [Per Press Association.] WELINGTON, April 29. When the steamer Karori was at Lyttelton last week representations were made to the Union Company by the stokehold hands regarding their work, and it was decided in future that the vessel should carry six firemen instead of three firemen and two trimmers.
