CYCLING.
CANTERBURY CYCLING AND SPOUTS ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Canterbury Cycling and Sports Association was held at Papanui last Wednesday, when Mr H. C. Revell presided. Correspondence was received from the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union to the effect that it had no intention of proceeding further with the proposed conference. The secretary reported that entries for the twenty-six mile road race to be held on Saturday, May 3, were coining in freely. It Mas decided to hold a championship sports meeting at Ivaiapoi on June 3. The programme, which was submitted by the Executive Committee, was approved, and caters for various classes of sport, with prizemoney allotted as follows.—Cycling, £l6 ills; running, £l6; motor-cycling, £1) 10s ; novelty events, £3 Pis fid. A gold medal, vaiued at £ss os, will bo awarded any competitor who breaks the one-mile motor-paced or unpaced New Zealand record. The chairman took the opportunity of extending to Mr W J. Walters (vicepresident). who will leave shortly on a trip to England, the Association's thanks for past services, and their best wishes for a beneficial trip. Mr Walters responded and said he would communicate anything he found in connection with sport that would be of interest to the Association.
