FIRES.
The Fire Brigade received a call last night from Peppler's wood-turning factory at the corner of Colombo and Hastings Streets, Sydenham. The Sydenham and Liclifielc Street motor chemical engines turned out, but the fire, which was confined to a heap of shavings, was practically out before they arrived. In consideration of the promptness with which tho engines arrived, Mr Peppier donated £2 to the brigade's prize fund.
