PALMERSTON NORTH, April 23. Carl Anderson's granary, at Sanson, was destroyed by fire last mailt. Three hundred of sacks of fine Algerian oats and twenty tons of chuff were destroyed. There was only a small amount of insurance on the building and grain, in the Commercial Union Office. Anderson is a heavy loser. Some trucks of grain on the train siding had a narrow escape.'
[Per Pkess Association.] ASHBURTON, April 23. A two-storey wooden dwellinghouse, owned and occupied by Mrs Peter Rattray. and situated in Trovorton, a, suburb of Ashburton, was totally destroyed by fire early this morning. Only a few small articles of furniture were saved. The cause of tho fire is supposed to be tho bursting of a kerosene lamp, which had been left burning in one of tho rooms while members of the family were busy in tho ■washhouse. The house was insured for £loo, the furniture for £SO and n piano for £25 in the North British Office, DUNEDIN, April 23. In connection with the fire at Gray and Sons' premises. Milton, the insurances were £2ooo' on the stock, which was valued at £3OOO, and £250 on the building, which was valued at £250.
