ARBITRATION COURT.
HOTEL AND RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES' AWARD. The following is the award made by the Arbitration Court in connection with the industrial dispute between the Canterbury Hotel and Restaurant Employees' Industrial Union of Workers and licensees of certain South Canterbury Hotels: —Wages in tho kitchen for chefs shall range from £1 5s to £4 10s, and where two fo'nales are employed, the first shall receive £1 12s Gd and the second £1 2s Cd. Tho wages of malo pantry hands shall rango from £1 5s to £1 10s, and all females employed in tho pantry shall be paid not less than £l. Wages for waiters shall range from £1 12s 6d to £2 10s, and of waitresses from £1 to £1 ss. Laundresses shall be paid not loss than £1 ss. A first housemaid's wages are 17s 6d, and a second's Ids Cd. Barmen's wages rango from £1 15s to £2 ss, and bar porters, who can bo omployed in the bar during certain specified hours, will receive £1 10s. Barmaids must be paid not less than £1 10s. Porters' wages shall range from £1 5s to £1 10s, and buttons from 10s to £l. Billiardmarkers shall be paid not loss than £1 10s, and where day and night porters are employed, a general hand may bo employed at not less than £1 os. Whore board is not provided, 10s per week shall bo paid, in addition to, the above rates, and when lodging is notprovided, os per week additional paid. Provision is made for the payment of casual labour, and tho preference clause applies. The award, which will remain in force until Fob. 28. 1915, only binds hotelkeepers in Timaru and Washdvko.
