FATAL FIRE.
Y'OUNG WOMAN LOSES HER LIFE.
ONLY A WEEK IN DOMINION
Tragedy overtook a young immigrant couple at Belfast this morning, when Mrs Ellen Grimshaw, the wife of a greaser employed at the Belfast freezing works, lost her lifo in a fire which destroyed her cottage. William Grimshaw and his wife resided in a four-roomed cottage in Donegal Streot, Belfast. Grimshaw left home to go to tho factory at (i.oO a.m. His wife had prepared his breakfast for him, and when ho left home everything was right and safe about the house. Half an hour later tho cottage was in flames. The people who gathered saw no sign of Mrs Grimshaw, but at first it was assumed that sho was with friends in the neighbourhood. Howover, as no one had seen her fear was expressed that she might have been unablo to get out of tho burning building, and frantic efforts wore niado to get into the kitchen. When at last it was possible to make a search Mrs Crimshaw's charred body was found lying in front of the range. A pan was on tho stove, and it was evident that Mrs Grimshaw had been cooking meat for her own breakfast when the fire broko out. It is believed that tho" fire started in the kitchen, and may havo been due to the fat which she was using taking fire. IN Irs Grimshaw was twenty-seven years of age. She arrived from Lancashire only a week ago, having come out to join her husband, who bad proceded her to New Zealand. There are no children. j
The building, which was the property of Mrs firodio, Belfast, was insured for £125. The furniture was not insured.
