TRENTHAM RIFLE RANGE.
COLONEL COLLTNS'S IMPROVEMENT SCHEME. [Pjsk Press Association.] r i August' 3. Colonel Collins, executive officer of the Dominion R ln6 Association, recenty recommended a scheme for bringing the range at Trontham more up-to-date. Goyet'nment authorised the completion ot the scheme, and the work has now been commenced by the Public Works Department. Tho improvements include an extension of Somerviile inJl? 0 , g,v< \ accommodation at the 1000 yards,' and also thirteen additional ltalston targets, making a total of twenty-five at that range; the enlargement ot the messroom to accommodate AiO men; new firing mounds at Seddon Range, to permit firing to bo carried on at 200, 300', 500 and6oo yards: the construction of a- new kitchen and a bakers oven; water supply extension to different parts of tho new camp site; and the completion of the present telephone connections. Sanitary arrangements are also receiving attention. There will be accommodation tor-seventy-live targets at 200, 300 500 Son 6 iE yarc ! 8 > nn<l for A Py targets at 80.0, 900 and 1000 yards. Improvements m the service matches will include the signalling of every shot.
