ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

BLENHEIM, July 30. A man named Timothy v o'Sullivan was killed near Tuamarina last night. He was lying on the railway line, and was struck by the engine. He had been drinking during the day, and it is presumed went to sleep on the line while proceeding to a settler's residence.

SUDDEN DEATH,

A man named T. Pickering, seventyseven years of age, an old age pensioner, died suddenly at the house of his brother, S. J. Pickering, Conference Street, this morning. He was very feeble, and last night his brother sat up with him until midnight. Thinking that the deceased was not seriouslv ill, the brother then retired to bed. When he went to see him at seven o'clock this morning, hef found that he was dead. An inquest will be held.
