AUSTRALIAN WORKMEN

MR T. A. COGHLAN IN DEFENCE. United Press Association—By Electiio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July 28, 8.5 a.m.) LONDON, July 27. In a letter to the " Standard" on Mr John Foster Eraser's book, Mr T. A. C'oghlan defends the Australian workman's capacity, which the book impugns. He claims that the standard work fixed for the Australian workman is one-quarter more than that done by the Englishman in, the same time. He refutes Mr Fraser's assertion, that the Australian natives flock to the towns, and quotes figures to show that the proportion of the AustraliaH-born population is very much less in the towns than the number of the general population warranto, while tho reverse is true regarding immigrants.
