Monday, October 18., (Before Mr W. R. Haselden, S.M.) Dbunkbnnbss. — Two first offenders were convicted and discharged, and two were fined 5s and costs, in default tiventy-four hours' imprisonment. — Alexander Stewart, for being drunk while in charge of a horse and trap, was fined 20sj in default seven days' imprisonment. For the second breach of his prohibition order he was fined 20s and costs, in default seven days' imprisonment. — William M'Lean Templeton, a second offender, was fined 6s and costs. ' Judgments by Dbfatoit. — In each or Ihe following cases judgment with costs was given for the plaintiffs by. default: United Farmers' Coal Company (Mr Hunt) v. J. Finnerty, £14 6s 9d; F. Hobbs and Co. v. H. F. Redwood, £5 16s 6d; Beath and Co., Limited (Mr Taylor), v. Thomas Hall, £2. 9s 6d; same v. R. W. Foley, £3 5s 6d, A Claim for Rkjtt. — Walter Thomas Hunster (Mr Frazer) claimed £7 11s Sd from Forrest Brown (Mr Westpn) for a month's rent due in lieu of notice. Pl&intfff stated that Brown had •ented his house from him for six nonths. After having been in pccupaMon a month defendant gave only three days' notice and lefy. After hearts the evidence the Magistrate gave : ndgment for the plaintiff for the mount claimed with costs. Judgment Summonses. — James Gibson ■vas ordered to pay Oates and Co. 9s, balance of money owing, or go to gaol or nine hours.-— James Pearce was orlered to pay A. W. Bennett £38 16s vithin fourteen days, in default twen-'y-eight days' imprisonment.
