The -total births In the four centres amounted to 701, »er»inst 622 in August, an increase of 79.' The deaths in September were 216, an increase of thirteen oil the number in August. Of the total deaUis, males contributed 108 and femaleß 108. Forty-nine of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 22.691 per cent of the whole number. Twenty-nine . of these were under one year of age. There were seventy-nine, deaths of persons of sixty-fire years and upwards. Thirteen men 65, 66 (two), 69, 73 (three), 73 V 75 (two),* 76 (two) and 86. and ten women 65, 66 (two), £9, 72 (three), 75, 8d and 89, died at Auckland; nine men 68. 71, 76, 78 (two) 80. 81. 86 and 92. and nine women 65 (two), 60, 73, 74, 73,. 76, 77 • and 78 at Wellington; ten men '66, 68. 78, 80, 81 (two) 83 (two), 84 and 90, . and six women 66, 68, 73. 78, 82 and 1 98 at Christchurch; and eleven men ' 66 (two), 72 (two), 74, 78. 79 (two), 81 (two) and 85. and eleven women 71 (two). 72 (two), 75 (two), 77, 80, 83, 85 and 88 at Dunedin.
