RANGIORA.
The installation of the Mayor-elect of Rangiora, Mr C. W. Bell, who has been re-elected unopposed, took place last night. Councillors Sansom, Foster, : Walker, Johnston, Wilson and Jen- \ nings made the declaration required, , and took their seats. Councillors [ Blackett and Bridget were absent. The . Mayor congratulated the councillors > upon their election, and reviewed, the ■ work of the Coupcil during the past - year,, stating tlfet substantial progress > had- been made in the borough. He > then made the declaration. ' and was in- > stalled and invested with, the maypjal ' chain by Councillor Jennings, who com- } plimented him on tne; faithful way in " which he had discharged his duties dmv ? ,ing the past term-, and wished him a pleasant and successful year in office. * The councillors then offerefl their con- \ gratulations, reference being made to „ the work to be undertaken during the [ coming year, of which the water supply I scheme was the principal feature. The . standing committees of the Council
were then elected, and a vote of thanks was passed to the town clerk.
