Lloyd Company reports an unprecedented fallirig-off in the number of German emigrants to the United States. The depression and the freight wars had resulted in a reduction of the surplus to 9,218,000 marks, against 32,697,000 marks at the end of 1907. The company had been obliged to drtnv its entire reserve and Tenewalvfunds in order to carry out the necessary writing-off operations.
