The " Spectator " says that whatever Australia or Canada may offer must be accepted with sincere pleasure, but the world will not realise the strength of the ties uniting the various communities of the Empire until the moment of peril arrives. The British people are determined that New Zealand's gift shall be treated purely as a gift, and in no' sense a relief to the taxpayer. The Dreadnought offered will make assurance doubly sure.
