At a meeting of the creditors of William Wolf Benjamin, it was stated that the bankrupt had left,- for Wellington on March 3. and it was believed that he had proceeded thence to Sydney;, his whereabouts being unknown. His liabilities were estimated at' £1600, & little over £800 being secured, and his assets would not realise £800, so that probably the unsecured creditors would lose over £1000. The question of the proceedings for the apprehension of the bankrupt was left in abeyance, pending the Crown Solicitor being consulted. - • The Customs duties collected at the port of Auckland for the year ended March 31 amounted to £652,936, being less by £125,3121 than the previous year. 'But in 1J3.08 J £70,000 was collected on sugar duties alone. This sum disappears under the new tariff, making the actual shrinkage about £4500. GISBORNE, April 2. A banquet was held last evening to commemorate the completion of a successful membership campaign of the Young Men's Christian Association, which organisation will enter its jiew club rooms nest week. In three weeks, by an' active canvass, the membership was raised to three hundred and thirteen. WELLINGTON, April 2. The Customs Teturns for the port of Wellington for the past month show a general increase in value and quantities of export compared with those for the corresponding month of last year. The total value was £524,272, as against £333,346 for last year. For the quarter the value was £1,585,079, as against £1,298,660 for the same period in 1908.
