The steamer Freda,, laden with £2^ooo bales of cotton from Galveston to Liverpool, was totally wrecked at Mizzenhead. Cork, in a fog. Five, including the captain, were drowned. The rest clung to the cliffs all night and were rescued at daybreak. Tho •teamer and cargo were insured for over a quarter of a million. The. loss falls primarily on New York and then on English companies and Lloyd's.
