» SUBSTANTIAL INCREASES. [Pkh Press Association.] "WELLINGTON, December 24. An interiirtreport on the crops, compiled from statistics collected between October 12 and November 7 has been gazetted. The wheat area for threshing is returned as 250,278 acres, an incroase of 57,594 acres over last year. In oats, 401,034 acres have been sown, an increase of 14,408 acres. For chaffing, ensilage and feeding down, bi7,977 acres were returned, being an increase of 39,961 acres. Barley, rape and other crops show an increase of 182, 52S acres, but in peas, turnips and similar crops there is a decrease of 22,225 acres. •
