An alteration has been mado in the goods rates on railways, operating from January 1, and representing a further reduction of £60,000. A severe drought throughout the isI land is seriously affecting the pastoral and fruit industries. Sheep have been sold at as low a price aa 2s Bd. Swarms of green beetles are destroying the fruit.
