SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT.

Taking advantage of a free Saturday, tho Canterbury Rugby Union, for the first time in many years, arranged Geven-a-eide tournaments for Senior and Junior players, and theGG were wero held this afternoon at Lancaster Park. The conditions were favourable to fast play, and there were some very interesting games. The Senior competition was won by the Albion Club's team, after a keen struggle in the final with Christchurch. In tlie Junior competition Merivale had no difficulty in winning from Old Boys. Tho following are details of tho games:--SENIOR COMPETITION. FIRST ROUND. Albion beat Canterbury College by twenty-one points to three. For Albion Eathorno and Hardihgham each scored two tries, and Weston kicked three goals. M'Kenzie scored for Canterbury There was no ecoro at the end of the ten minutes' play in the LinwoodMerivale game J but after two minutes' more play Alexander scored a try for Linwood. Christchurch beat Sydenham by eight point*; to three. Fryer scored two tries and kicked a goal for Christchurch, and Pattrick scored a try for Sydenham. SECOND ROUND. Albion beat Linwood by six points to nil, after a very keenly-contested game. Burns and Webb scored tries for Albion. Christchurch had an easy win against Old Boys by fifteen points to nil. Fryer scored three tries and converted them. FINAL. Albion and Christchurch met in the final. Albion attacked at once, but a long kick forced Christchurch. Another rush wag well checked by Button, but play remained near the Christchurch line, and from a scramble Luke got over near the corner, the kick at goal failing. Albion had a three points' lead when the teams changed over, and for about three minutes the play was very even, though Christchurch failed to make the most of their chances. A free kick gave Christchurch a shot at goal, but only a force-down resulted. With less than a minute to go Albion held their opponents safe, and there was no addition to the score, Albion winning by three points to nil. The teams were as follow :—Albion—J. Weston, G. D. Gray, P. Burns, E. J. Eathorne, C. Hardingham, G. Webb and H. Luke. Christchurch—F. C. Fryer, E. M'Donald, J. Button, A. Jacobson, R. Morrison, J. Walter and E. O'Brien.
