THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL'S WELCOME. '■■• ' SYDNEY, August 19. The weather is beautifully fine, though | cold. . j Lord Northeote forwarded by wireless telegraph the following message to Admiral Sperry :— " On behalf of the Commonwealth I tender a hearty welcome from the whole of its people to the American fleet, which represents so magnificently our friends and kinsmen I6f the United States. I hope you have lad a good voyage from New Zealand, and that on arrival you will receive an enthusiastic greeting from this part of bis Majesty's Empire."
