Monkey Puzzle defeated Cannonier in a gallop over a mile, tun. in lmin 51 3-ssec, Northern Star, who started with them, finishing some distance away. Hilarity ran a mile very easily in lmin 54sec, and Rose Noble's task was a similar distanceat three-quarter speed. Probable gave Heorthen a few lengths' break and defeated her over a mile, run in lmin 49sec, while Don Orsino was better than Lapland over a similar distance, run in lmin 52s i sc. Nancy Stair and another ran Beven furlongs in lmin 38sec, the former having slightly the better of the gallop. Le Beau defeated Nadador over a mile and a quarter, while Lady Disdain put in a working gallop over seven furlongs. Vasa dashed over six furlongs, the last five of which occupied lmin 8 2-ssec, while Maid of Astolat cast the last five of a six-furlong 1 , spin behind her in lmin 7 l-ssec. Aorangi (H Cairns), Whatakura (Wlutehouse) and Southern Cross (Retter) were companions in a schooling task oiyer five flights of hurdles. ■ The first-named pair showed too much pace for Southern Cross, who. as usual, fenced indifferently, and was toiling in the rear throughout. Aorangi and Whatakura both gave safcißfactory exhibitions, although the first-named again showed a tendency to fence too slowly and carefully. Casabianca (T. Cotton, jun.) gave a safe exhibition over fou? flights of hurdles and the, double twice. ThenEurus (W. O'Connell), Deerslayer (Jerry O'Connell] the I*™?** -eldin* (Mr J. Selby) and Pilot (T. Cahill) set out together for a schooling task. Commencing over the flight of hurdles at the back. they, went twice round, omitting both of the post and rail fences each, time m favour of the flights of hurdles. The quartet kept well together until they reached the sod wall the second time, where Deerslayer fell, but fortunately his rider escaped unhurt. The others completed the circuit without mishap, fencing woll ihwrnghout. Pilot especially fencing beautifully. Zetland dashed over six furlong* in lmin 20 l-ssec. and Golden Cairn defeated Lupulite over a similar distance, which occupied linin Msec. The latter performed very disappointingly, and he is evidently a good deal below bis true form. Storm, assisted by Portland over the last half-mile, galloped five furlongs, and Harvest had Scotty and Mabavanui beaten at the end of a mile, run in ,lTnm 50sec.
