SOUTHLAND NOTES.

[From Ottr Courespondent. ] DUNEDIN, August 1. When the application for rehearing of the strikers' case camo before t>he Southland Union, surprise was expressed that the parent body had not uphold the Southland Union's action. It was decided that any ono <»f th© disqualified players who sent in a -written statement of reasons why his case should be reconsidered, would have his letter considered by the executive. The general impression is that the Southland touring team will be weak, especially in view of the decision of the All Blacks, Stead and Glasgow, not to participate.
